Whistler School of Highland Dance

WSOHD is based in the North East of England with classes held in Tynemouth, West Allotment and Ashington. We have many opportunities for future dancers which include -

Competitions - Competing in dance competitions locally and nationally. WSOHD compete in all sections - Primary, Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, Premier, Championship; winning and placing at every competition/championship. There have been 4 Championship wins, 4 Pre-Championship wins and many local and overall winners in the North East and across the country.

3 Local competition winners and Laura also winning the overall Adult section.

Exams - WSOHD hold exam sessions throughout the year. This allows dancers to complete exams which will lead to professional qualifications such as teacher, judge and examiner. The exam board we use is the BATD through which Laura has taken her membership exams in both the Highland and National branches and on completing her judges exam, she is now a qualified judge on the SOBHD world wide panel.

Displays - WSOHD take part in many displays across the North East including events with local Pipe bands, Weddings, Help for Hero's displays, Summer fayre events, Burns night displays, evening shows and many more. This is a fun experience for the school and is very relaxed and enjoyable for both pupils and parents.
